Norton Lights...Making Wishes Come True

It all started in 2006 with some brotherly competition. My brother Jon challenged me to a Crazy Christmas Contest to see who could put up more lights in their yard. We spent weeks decorating the front yard and invited family and friends to help us try to out-do each other. We loved people’s reactions to our yard, and people drove for miles to see the displays.

That was it….I was hooked. It was so much fun to decorate the house and yard and even more fun to see people’s reactions. My family and I spend many hours planning what we will do next. In 2007 we dabbled with animation, using a computer to change the front of the house from red to green. In 2008 we bought our first two “Light-O-Rama” computer boards that use a program to set your lights to music. By using this program and an FM transmitter we are able to set the house to music and you can hear the music play on your own car radio (88.9 FM) when you drive by. Each year we try to get bigger and add more and more to the display.

I am having a lot of fun with this hobby and creating the displays. The time I get to spend with my sons building the circuit boards and creating the displays is priceless. My wife has the patience of a saint, but she truly loves the whole process and the joy it brings to others. One of the biggest joys I get is seeing the children’s expressions when they come by for the first time, although some come by again and again.

We now run two annual shows. We have one at Halloween called, “OPERATION: Scare ‘N Share”. We run the show the week before Halloween through Halloween night. We have a bucket out front to collect canned goods for our local food pantry for people who would like to donate. We are always amazed by the generosity of our community and your blessings of food help countless families.

Our Christmas light show kicks off the first weekend of December and runs through Christmas night. We have partnered with Make-A-Wish of Maine and have a donation box at the end of the driveway for those who would like to donate. We are so blessed to work with such an amazing organization and your donations have granted several wishes over the past few years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We will never be able to thank the all of the countless volunteers, our friends, our families, our neighbors and our community for their support….we really couldn’t do it with out you!

We hope you enjoy the show!
